Digital Desk: In the early hours of Sunday, two goods trains collided near West Bengal's Bankura, resulting in the derailment of many bogies. The event is reported to take place at Onda station.

Following the disaster, South Eastern Railway said that many train services would be disrupted today as a result of the derailment of two goods trains.

"14 trains cancelled, three diverted, and two short terminated today due to a goods train derailment at Ondagram station of Adra Division," South Eastern Railway said.

Reportedly, a senior South Eastern Railway official said no one was wounded in the accident, which disrupted train services in the SER's Adra division for more than four hours.

According to the official, eight waggons were derailed as a result of the incident, which occurred at 4 a.m., and train movement was resumed in the section by 8.30 a.m. after urgent repair work was completed.

According to the official, the likely reason for the accident was that the driver of the moving freight train missed the red home signal at Onda.

The train then entered the loop line, where the spot was marked on the tracks, and collided with the halted goods train, he added.
